Help Me Support Others on Their ADHD Journey
Hi, my name’s Wez. I’m 39 years old, a dad of 2, a mental health nurse, and I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 36. As it’s ADHD awareness month I wanted to do something and make a difference to someone who may be struggling waiting for a ADHD diagnosis.
Getting my diagnosis wasn’t easy. For most of my life, I knew I was “different,” but I didn’t have the words or the understanding to explain why. Life always felt like a struggle like I was swimming against the current while everyone else seemed to be cruising along. I knew I was different from others but couldn’t put my finger on it.
It wasn’t until my son was put on the pathway for ADHD that I decided to seek help myself. Thanks to Right to Choose and the NHS, I was finally diagnosed. That moment changed everything for me.
Since then, it’s been a huge journey of self-discovery. Two years ago, I started a TikTok account to share my experiences and connect with others. The support and conversations that came out of it have been incredible. Neurodiversity is becoming more recognised, especially in mental health where I work, but I see first-hand how many people are still left waiting, struggling, or unable to afford private assessments.
That’s why I want to give back. I’m teaming up with other creators to take on challenges, share real-life stories, and spread awareness. The aim is simple: to raise money so more people can access support, quicker. Because nobody should have to feel lost, stuck, or forgotten while they wait. The funds will be used to pay for a ADHD diagnosis for someone to get the closure and support they desperately need.
If you’re able to donate even a small amount it would mean the world, not just to me but to the many people this could help. Together, we can make a real difference for those still on their journey. It’s all about the community and I want to give back.
Thank you so much for reading and supporting me with this goal ❤️
Wez
