The Lewis family are the epitome of all things good in rugby league and sport.
Sky is the Secretary/Registrar of the Wingham Junior Rugby League Club and is a driving force in female participation in our sport. Husband Luke is a trainer with the Club and all six children are active members.
Members of our Club were shocked last week to hear that Sky had fallen seriously ill and been hospitalized. Sky is a fighter and had been in remission for some time from breast cancer however the treatment had left her heart function and immune system seriously compromised.
Last Sunday Sky underwent major heart surgery and will commence chemotherapy sometime in the next fortnight to treat her cancer which has returned.
In keeping with the Wingham Junior Rugby League Club's community ethos we are raising funds to assist Sky and her young family get through this extremely difficult time.
We have set a modest target of $1,000 which can be updated as funds become available. All donations, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go towards living costs and expenses for the family whilst Sky is receiving treatment and during her recovery and Luke cares for her and their children on a full time basis.
