If you don’t know this man, his name is Moe. And he has been saucing up some of the best gyros and hamburgers on the corner of Spring and Comming for the past eight years in our small community! Not only is this man a beacon for good food and hospitality, but his infectious optimism holds as a true representation for his character. I swear this man has probably saved my life once or twice coming home from king street. His food truck served as the light at the end of a sometimes very drunk drunk tunnel. He would send me and my friends home with a gyro in hand and a smile on our faces. 

The reason I’m currently writing this is because recently, in light of everything that’s going on in the world, Moe had the unfortunate inability to receive any financial help from the government over the few months of quarantine. Without going into too much detail, Moe told me that he had a difficult time trying to secure any small business loans or unemployment. Moe has also struggled with a neuromuscular disorder in his hands that leaves him in constant pain. And due to the hospitals reduced visitation and lack of elective surgeries, he’s been forced to work through the discomfort to try and still provide for his family! But Moe being Moe, he still does it with a smile on his face and reassures me that he is alright. 

THEREFORE, I thought it was our responsibility as a community to recognize this man for all the good food, good laughs, and good nature he pours out into others. He is a true representation of what southern hospitality portrays. With all the conflict and uncertainty in the world, lets show this guy some Charleston kindness!
