Let's help out librarian Suzette Baker

Hi, my name is Leila Green Little, and I'm a library patron fundraising on behalf of Ms. Barbara “Suzette” Baker.  Ms. Baker has been an exceptional librarian with a strong sense of ethics and a keen knowledge of all library services at the Kingsland branch of the Llano County Library System for 3 years.  My family has loved seeing her when we go to the library, and I was a big fan of her recent banned books display!

 

Our library system has been affected by censorship at the county level and by improper recommendations from a library advisory board stacked with political appointees.  As a result, librarians who stand up for the right to read and best practices of a library have felt the pressure.

 

Suzette was terminated this morning due to insubordination, failure to follow instructions, violation of policies, and creating a disturbance.  It's very important to note that she was NOT terminated for tardiness, substandard work, absenteeism, rudeness, or other.  So let's see if we can replace--nay, surpass--one year of her salary, shall we?
