Let’s help Enes start the Angola School Project

1. What is this appeal about?
Enes is going to spend the next couple of years (2023-2024) working on a project to establish a school in the country of Angola. Angola is located in the Southern part of Africa. Please see the map below.
The vision of establishing a school to help poor and destitute young Angolans get an education has been with Enes for a long time. To this end, he and some friends have started a charity called "Aurora Africa Trust", whose main objective is to gather the funds in order to fulfil this vision. At Aurora, they consider now is the time to start implementing the project on the ground while continuing the fundraising.
2. Tell me more about Angola and the school project.
The need for education in Angola is huge and urgent, as this country has only emerged in the recent past from decades of an atrocious war that had devastated all aspects of life, especially the education sector.
Furthermore, with a population of just over 31 million, 70% of which are under the age of 24 and of those more than half are children, many of them cannot afford to go to school because of poverty.
The project consists in starting a secondary school in the district of Kibokolo, a rural area in Northern Angola, at the Kibokolo Mission Station. Currently, there are no schools at the proposed level in the area to cover the need of a growing number of pupils leaving primary education.
This school will combine academic teaching with practical skills in order to prepare and equip students for employment as they finish their studies or to continue with further education if they so decide.
At Aurora, we believe that providing them with a good education is the most effective way to guarantee that these youngsters can break the cycle of poverty, misery and dependence that is so prevalent there.

3. When and why is Enes going?
Enes plans to go at the beginning of next year (2023) when the project is due to start. As is always the case, the start of a project is a very important and strategic time because major decisions that will affect the future of it are usually taken then. Therefore, it is very important for Aurora to be represented on the ground at this important phase. It will also serve to ensure good stewardship of the money that has been entrusted to Aurora for the school project.
4. Why does he need the money, and how much?
Although Aurora Africa Trust has so far raised some money for the school project, this will not be enough to pay for the costs associated with anyone working on it. So, Enes or anyone else joining this endeavour will have to fund themselves in order to go and work on the project.
Enes would need to raise £ 24,000 to help him stay 24 months working on the project's initial phase.
The money he requires is to cover all the expenses he will incur during the two years he plans to stay working on the project there, which includes living costs (food and accommodation), transport, communication and administrative costs.
5. How can I help?
We count very much on your financial support for this cause. Please give as generously as you can. Please remember that as you give, you are not just helping Enes but are, in fact, contributing to a greater good and noble cause, as this will enable many young people to get the education that they wouldn’t otherwise receive without your contribution.
Please receive our heartfelt thanks.
