Hi my name is Laurie Wheeler and I have known Colleen MacRae for many, many years. During those years she has helped me repeatedly with my cat rescue. She has also donated hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of gift certificates for her esthetician business, located in Berwick, NS., to my rescue for the online auctions we regularly do on Facebook. She has been so good to me.

Two weeks ago Colleen got kicked in the head by one of her horses. Someone accidentally didn't latch the door properly and her horses were headed for the highway. For those of you that know Colleen, you know that she is like a super hero to those animals of hers. So, while trying to retrieve them, this happened.

She received a head injury, concussion/brain trauma. She is unable to work. Colleen owns her own business, Colleen's Esthetics. She is the sole owner of this business, as well as her large beautiful home. She now has zero income. Colleen has a big mortgage payment, TONS of animals to feed .... you can just imagine how devastating this is. Even one day's loss of income is substantial.

Because Colleen has aways been so good to me, and so generous, I feel putting on this gofundme for her is the least I can do. She needs to rest stress free, and not worry about how everything is going to get paid for. It's a lot.

To all of her clients, friends and family ..... please send whatever you can afford.

Not sure how much longer Colleen is off for, but for now she cannot do anything and needs our help.

UPDATE FROM COLLEEN, FEB. 15:

Hi everyone

I wanted to share a little update.

After following up with my doctor, it turns out my concussion is more severe than we initially thought. I’ve been advised that I’m not able to return to work yet, as I need proper time to heal along with some ongoing therapies, including vision/ocular therapy.

This has been really hard for me, as you all know how much I love what I do and how much I care about each of you. I truly thought I would be back sooner.

I’m so incredibly grateful for the kindness, support, and patience so many of you have already shown — it means more than I can put into words

Because I’m self-employed and currently unable to work, a dear friend has set up a GoFundMe to help support me and the care of my animals during this time. If you feel called to share or support, I would be deeply grateful.

Most of all, I just ask for your understanding while I focus on healing so I can come back to you all safely and fully.
