My name is Nancy and I am making this gofund me on behalf of Barbara (77) and Loyce (74) and their two pups.
On April 25 I drove past a bus stop and saw two elderly women with two small dogs and all their belongings. I offered them a ride and learned they’d been unfairly displaced from their home of 31 years on April 23 when they no longer met Section 8 criteria.
Both women are disabled — Barbara is 77 and Loyce is 74 — and most of their family members have passed away.
They had stayed one night in a motel but could not afford another night and were unable to enter shelters because of their pets. I offered to get them a hotel but they had said the ride to the nearest Carl’s Jr was more than enough as they were going to spend the night behind the Carl’s Jr.’s dumpster.
Worried about them I took action and posted on Nextdoor to find resources.
Luckily a person who saw my post managed to convince them and arranged a week at Motel 6 on Sunday April 26, and then I was able to cover one more week; their current room is paid through May 11.
This motel is a short-term solution, but they urgently need help to avoid returning to the streets and to secure permanent housing.
We’re raising funds for:
-Additional motel nights while they await housing (short-term emergency support)
-First month’s rent and security deposit for an affordable unit (longer-term goal)
-Pet food, basic vet care, and supplies
Basic essentials (clothing, hygiene items, small furniture as needed)
Why your help matters:
Barbara and Loyce are vulnerable, disabled seniors with limited family support and no immediate housing options. Housing waitlists and government resources can several days or even months. This help could cover several weeks of motel costs, deposits, and basic moving expenses.
Any contribution — even to cover a few nights or buy dog food — will make a real difference and keep them safe while they secure more permanent housing.
How you can help besides donating:
Share this page with social media and local groups.
Thank you for caring about Barbara and Loyce. Your support — whether sharing or donating — helps two seniors and their beloved dogs avoid a dangerous situation and move toward stable housing. I will post updates so everyone knows how the funds are used.
Thank you all once again!
