Hello friends, family and folks in the community I have yet to meet! I’m writing in request of support for me and my fur-family. Those that know me, my sweet boy, Honey Velvet has had a hard summer.

Honey was diagnosed with a large mast cell tumor (cancer) in his leg in May. He underwent invasive surgery with a good prognosis only to tear his ACL 2 weeks later. This was heartbreaking as Honey Velvet is happiest during our outdoor excursions. Park and swimming* adventures have been a coveted part of our routine since I adopted him in spring of 2020. If you have not had the pleasure of watching Honey Velvet swim, add it to your list! Athleticism on par with the Olympics but all about fun. Over the last couple months, I’ve deliberated on whether to get surgical intervention for Honey Velvet’s injury because of the cost and significant recovery period. After months of trying to restrict Honey’s activity, trying to manage his pain with joint supplements and medications that cause digestive problems, with the advice of our veterinarian, I’ve decided that surgery is the best option for him. He is so eager to be active and play with his brother and I want to give him the opportunity to do what he loves for as long as possible.

So I'm reaching out to all of you for financial support to try and make this happen. I have found a veterinarian who does the surgery at less cost than the specialty animal hospitals. The cost of the surgery plus pre and post- op care is $4000. Our current apartment is on the second floor (25 stairs up) so we’re moving to a first floor place for 2-4 weeks after surgery as Honey will not be able to use the stairs for that period of time. I’m hoping to raise an additional $1600 to supplement income loss from time off work and moving costs.
