Yesterday I went to the laundry mat to clean my clothes. I was a few quarters short, so I asked a man for two quarters. A man helped me with the last quarter he had. He said his name was Cedric and has been coming to the same laundromat for over 20 years. Cedric mentioned he’s helped many people there over the years, never expecting anything in return. But in that moment, for the very first time, we got to be the ones who rewarded him. Cedric said to me he's recently learned to see everyone as brothers and sisters. Cedric shared with me that his car is on its last leg, and on top of that, he’s been dealing with some health issues that have strained his finances, and he's trying to take it one step at a time. What an amazing opportunity for us, as a community, to rally around him like family and help lift the financial burden of replacing his car so he doesn’t have to worry about how to get around.
