Let's Fund the Bouton Connector Trailhead
Donation protected
The City of Bouton and the Bouton Betterment Committee are very excited to welcome a long-awaited multi-use trail connector in our small town. This connector will link hundreds of miles of trails across Iowa, linking the High Trestle and Raccoon River Valley Trails, which are in turn part of the Great American Rail Trail. Our story will also soon be featured in an upcoming Iowa Heritage Foundation magazine article.
Funding for the trail has been secured and construction is happening now, coming from the two neighboring towns of Perry and Woodward.
We have big plans for our little town and want to create a beautiful, useful, accessible, sustainable trailhead space for all who choose to visit and enjoy the trail.
Our space will include well-lit parking and paved areas; amenities such as bike racks, a bike-fix station, water fountain, benches, and picnic tables; visitor information and maps; and landscaping featuring native plants and trees. We also had the exciting opportunity to partner with Landscape Architecture students from Iowa State University to help us put our vision on paper - giving us a realistic idea of the use of our space and the cost to make the dream a reality.
The connector will have a huge impact on our small 130-person community, bringing visitors from across the state, and even across the country. We want to help our town look its best for visitors, and for them to want to return. This trailhead will be an important factor in the revitalization of our town.
Please consider donating to our cause - it's one you, your family, and friends will be able to enjoy the benefits of for years to come!
