The ACME Ice Cream Truck: Fundraiser!

Dear Friends and Supporters!

  Our once beloved ice cream truck; a beacon of joy for kids and families alike, is getting ready to hit the streets for the first time in nearly 20 years, but we need your help to make this happen!  

  Formerly Lil’ Delights, operated out of Chatinika, the once Northernmost Ice Cream Truck in America (possibly the world), hasn’t had the joy of making memories in quite some time.

  It was often seen at many events in the Fairbanks area; Car Shows, Outhouse Races, Golden Days, Midnight Sun Festivals, Weekend Races, Arctic Man, and even the occasional turning corners through neighborhoods anywhere north of Denali Park clear up to Circle.

  Sadly though it had been vandalized and stripped of many items in its dormancy; that’s where you come in!

To deliver smiles, nostalgia, and delicious treats!

 Through bringing an Ice Cream & Novelties truck back to our quiet northern community!  With the sounds of the calliope echoing through your little neighborhood, while running toward the sound with excitement!  Piggybank savings in tow, making core memories in our fleeting Alaskan summers, short and sweet, like your favorite ice cream treat.  

  The goal is to operate it in the same fashion as previously ran, a community based truck.  As a lifelong resident of the Borough; a “Fairbanksian”, it’s easy to overlook how beautiful this town is, but one thing that’s impossible to overlook is the lack of ice cream trucks!

What We Need:

Your Help:

  This campaign will cover repairing the essential components that are defunct and/or replacing equipment, such as:

•Swing Arm:

  One small step in helping to increase visibility and promote safety. A swing arm with flashing lights, much like on a school bus is only required in some states; thankfully many small communities throughout our nation have adopted requirements into their local ordinances. The FNSB has no standing on ice cream truck safety swing arms, Anchorage does; I am a firm advocate on safety and will be employing the use of a safety swing arm. With your support we’ll be able to purchase the appropriate vendor related safety swing arm and have it installed. 

•Speaker & Music Box:

  The Sweet Siren Call of any Ice Cream truck, Made from all weather ABS, a PA Horn Speaker combined with a Music Box Amplifier will allow its cheerful melody to be heard for blocks.  With your support, we’ll be able to re-install a delightful music box that will make this truck hard to miss!

•Chest Freezer:

  Our ice cream needs a frosty home! A reliable chest freezer will keep our treats perfectly chilled, ready to delight taste buds.  The idea freezer cabinet should be able to maintain -10°F or colder.  With your support a proper freezer can be acquired from our local ice cream distributor.

•Generator and Rack:

  While some trucks use inverter systems to power their equipment, this is unreliable and requires the ice cream truck’s engine to always be running to maintain the freezers.  However, a small generator dedicated for the freezer will ensure sub zero temperatures while out on routes or at events.  The previous generator housing had been removed from the truck and a new one will need to be fabricated.  With your generous contributions a generator rack will be fabricated, along with purchasing a generator from Rod’s Saw Shop.

•Brakes

  One of the most important things needed to make a sale; brakes!

Without brakes there’s just no safe way to stop to make a sale, with your donations we’ll be able to take the truck into the shop and get its brakes serviced to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our little customers!
