Let’s Be Blunt, A Campaign by Leanne Lucas, Southport Attack Survivor

My name is Leanne Lucas, and I am a survivor of a knife attack that changed my life forever. That moment didn’t just leave scars on my body; it left deep marks on my heart and purpose. Since that day, I’ve made it my mission to help others avoid the pain, fear, and trauma that knife crime brings to individuals, families, and communities.

That’s why I started the Let’s Be Blunt campaign.

The Mission

We can’t always prevent violence, but we can reduce the risk. One simple, powerful way to do that is by changing the kitchen knives we use every day. Traditional pointed kitchen knives are common household items, but they are also one of the most easily accessible weapons used in impulsive and devastating acts.

By switching to safety-tip kitchen knives, we take a small step with a massive impact. It’s about prevention. It’s about future-proofing our communities. Just like we once added seatbelts, fire alarms, and childproof caps, this is the next step in making our homes and our society safer.
