Help Us Bring a Defibrillator to Letham Grange.
Hi, I’m Anders — a local resident and first-aider. I’m fundraising to install a public defibrillator right here in our village of LG.
Recently, while at work, a colleague went into sudden cardiac arrest. Alongside other trained staff, I helped administer CPR and used a defibrillator. After three shocks, his heart restarted — and paramedics confirmed the defibrillator saved his life. That experience made it clear just how crucial these devices are, and how important speed is in a crisis.
Time is everything in cardiac arrest. The chance of survival drops by 10% with every passing minute — and defibrillators are most effective within the first 3–5 minutes. Sadly, our nearest one is in St Vigeans, which is too far away to be practical in an emergency.
That’s why I’m hoping our community can come together to fund our own publicly accessible defibrillator, mounted centrally in LG on a volunteer resident’s home. The estimated cost is £1,800, which includes the defibrillator itself and a weatherproof outdoor cabinet with heating and lighting for 24/7 access.
If we manage to get it for less, any remaining funds will go toward maintenance — including future battery and pad replacements, which are time-limited items.
I’ve offered to take care of ongoing upkeep, but I need your help to make this possible. Please consider donating whatever you can — every contribution brings us closer to making LG a safer place for everyone.
Thank you for your support.
