Let's Help Roger Weinheimer Get Back On His Feet

I am Dana DeVito Handbury, and I grew up in Pleasantville. PHS Class of 1966. I'm an old friend of Roger's to whom he lent a friendly and caring shoulder at a time when my life had hit its very lowest. I've never forgotten how he helped me with no agenda when I was so alone. That was in P'ville in 1967.
On May 5th, 2020, I finally was able to get the contact information I had been seeking for years - Roger Weinheimer's phone number and address! After a few very long “catch up” conversations, I was saddened to learn of his current situation. He is, like all of us, older now, and as of Covid-19, he is unable to work.
Work has pretty much consisted of driving a cab for his local Ossining cab company. But unfortunately, the owner suggested to him many years ago that he get paid in cash. "You'll make more money this way," he was told. Believing this, Roger now is realizing that he was not paying into Social Security, and his monthly checks are far from what it takes to live on. One friend told me he needs a new vehicle and barely makes ends meet every month.
He doesn’t have any of the simple things so many of us take for granted, and he says he is fine living that way. But it is clear that he is isolated and struggling. No tech equipment and no
knowledge of how to use it anyway!
If you are in a position to reach out and make a contribution to help Roger get back up on his feet and perhaps even learn how to join us online one day, you are much appreciated. Believe me,
even a $5 donation is meaningful, and he is very grateful. Thomas Bonaventure is offering to swing by once we’re out of this Pandemic Mode so that he can start to show him how to use his
phone and even perhaps get online! Other friends are also extending themselves and making suggestions about ways we can extend our support.
Pleasantville has always been a close knit, small community that cares about its neighbors. So please do what you can for Roger, an old school P’ville OG! Thank you. He is on the back row, 2nd from the left. This is his 10th grade yearbook picture. He was PHS Class of 1965. Go Panthers!!
