I am Rebekah and I am currently a 9th grader at Costa Mesa High School. Last year I was able to put on a “LET’S BE KIND” day at Costa Mesa Middle School in Costa Mesa, CA for my fellow classmates. It was amazing to see my entire campus unified for one purpose, to be kind to another.  For one day nothing separated us.  We all where wearing a LET’S BE KIND TEE and were engaging with one another.  Over the last year I have seen the impact that specific day has had in the relationships of our campus.  It has been amazing to see the TEEs worn around campus and in our city as a reminder to be kind to one another. 

In a world where kindness seems to not be the norm, I wanted to show my fellow classmates that kindness can change our campus.  We spend 10 months out of the year together on our campus.  We share our lives with each other and are a built-in community of 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders.  We should be kind to each other. 

A few years ago, I lived in El Salvador and with much change came many challenges.  It taught me that kindness changes things.  One of the things that stood out to me the most while living abroad was the kindness of others.  People have shown kindness to me in incredible ways and I want to give that back to the people that I get to be with everyday.

I would love to be able to give each student on Costa Mesa Middle and High School a free “LET’S BE KIND” tee.  Could you image seeing our entire Costa Mesa student body wearing their tee to school?  It would be pretty cool.  It would be a constant reminder to be kind to each other. 

LET’S BE KIND is a special event that I hope will remind people that they are cared for, loved and valued. On my campus those three words are hard to know and feel but KINDNESS you can see.  The hope is that kindness will bring a group of students together to become the most incredible people that our school has ever seen.

Last year we gave away over 700 tees and this year we would like to give away over 2,100 tees.

Each tee costs $4.28 and we need 2,100 of them!

We need to purchase the tees by March 22, 2019 in order to have them ready for the day of the event on APRIL 25, 2019!
