*We ask your help for Hugo & Maria Teresa to rebuild the local Organic Farm and to take care of their 2 little daughters*

In recent weeks, extreme weather in Portugal has caused severe damage. Flooding and strong winds have destroyed a great deal.

A beautiful local organic farm in our region (Rogil) has also been heavily affected: 90% of the harvest has been lost, including the greenhouse and this is their only income.

This family has worked with heart and dedication supplying organic vegetables to many households through well filled veggie boxes (around 60 boxes usually a week) and to the majority of restaurants in the area.

They grow all kinds of veggies, herbs and salats, too many to all announce, also potatoes, sweet potatoes, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, all kind off peppers, lemons and many more and 90% is gone… no harvest, no income, no greenhouse no start up…

Many of us enjoy their pure, lovingly grown produce every day or in the restaurants.

This Family are not people who easily ask for help. They show up, work incredibly hard, and contribute to a healthy and sustainable community.

Since we learned last week that neither the insurance company nor the authorities will be providing any financial support to this family, we are asking for your help— out of appreciation, respect, and connection — to give something back to this hardworking family

With this initiative, we want to help them rebuild their greenhouse, the organic farm (new plants) and recover, so they can continue their work and our community, the tourists and the restaurants can keep enjoying their organic vegetables.

Nas últimas semanas, Portugal foi assolado por condições climáticas extremas, inúmeras inundações e ventos fortes, que causaram graves danos materiais em várias regiões. Uma bela quinta familiar de produção agrícola biológica da nossa comunidade foi duramente atingida: 90% da colheita foi perdida, incluindo a estufa.

Há muitos anos que esta família trabalha com dedicação e paixão, fornecendo cabazes de legumes biológicos a inúmeras famílias e à maioria dos restaurantes da região.

Muitos de nós valorizamos diariamente os seus produtos frescos, de qualidade, cultivados com cuidado e amor.

O Hugo e a Maria Teresa não são pessoas que peçam ajuda com facilidade. São trabalhadores incansáveis, que contribuem ativamente para uma comunidade mais saudável e sustentável.

Agora é o momento — por apreço, respeito e espírito de entreajuda — de retribuirmos a esta família tudo aquilo que tem dado à nossa comunidade.
