Greetings from Seoul. My name is Subin Cho.
Ten years ago, in 2015, I was an underprivileged in South Korea who was given a life-changing opportunity: the "Dream Scholarship" to study in the United States. That experience fundamentally reshaped my world, and now, at the age of 30, I am a PhD student in Geography at Seoul National University. During this "season of giving," I would like to honor the support I once received by giving back to a cause that stands for human dignity.
I am raising funds for the Migration and Human Rights Institute (MIHU ) in Busan, led by Dr. Sagang Kim. My connection to Dr. Kim began through the tragic passing of the late Taewan Kang . Dr. Kim, a USC (University of Southern California) alumna, happen to be a colleague of my current Ph.D. advisor—but it is her spirit that moved me.
Years ago, while interviewing migrant workers for her Ph.D. dissertation, one migrant worker asked her:
"What would change if I agree to be interviewed?"
That piercing question became the foundation of MIHU.
Today, Dr. Kim runs this alternative research institute almost single-handedly, ensuring that the voices of the marginalized are not just heard, but lead to real change.
Due to the administrative complexities of cross-border transfers and the volatility of exchange rates, I am serving as the bridge for this campaign. Dr. Kim has provided her personal account to receive these international funds directly, ensuring they are used precisely where they are needed for MIHU’s mission. Every cent raised here will be transferred to her to keep the "Let us Dream" spirit alive.
Please join me in supporting Dr. Kim’s tireless work.
Let us Dream together.
