Help Bring Electricity to Erin Ijesha

Dear friend and family,
As you know, I am an indigene of Erin Ijesa, a town located in Osun State, Nigeria. Erin Ijesa is blessed with one of the earth’s most beautiful waterfalls known as Olumiri. Yet it is plagued by extreme poverty, abandonment by the government, and socioeconomic injustice. My parents grew up in this town which is more or less a desolate village now and it is sad to admit that there has been no progress in terms of infrastructural development, access to education, healthcare facilities, and agricultural support.
The same elementary and secondary schools that existed during the era of my parents and grandparents still exists in its dilapidated state. Many indigenes are yet to ever travel from this town to see a world that has electricity for at least 6 hours a day, running tap water, a real hospital with non-wooden beds and diagnostic capabilities or even a school with a laboratory. As a result, this past year, I and other natives of Erin Ijesa learned that no high school student matriculated to University in 2020.
The issues are numerous and expensive to tackle all at once but with the age of technology, social media, crowdfunding and social responsibility, myself and other well-meaning natives of Erin Ijesa residing in the USA and Canada have come together to tackle these issues. In the absence of a functioning government, we have pledged to lift the residents of Erin Ijesa out of the current state of poverty and save the future generation. In this regard, we want to purchase a Transformer which will ensure that one of the basic necessities of LIFE - Electricity - can be provided for everyone in the community.
The picture above was taken on January 8, 2021, at Erin Ijesa. It shows children gathered in darkness to study and complete homework using candles. The current transformer in the town is outdated and not capable of supplying power for a standard fan. Thus far in this new year, there has been no light in the community for 7 consecutive days. Our goal is to use the money raised to buy a transformer for the entire town by the end of February 2021 and use surplus funds to renovate the education infrastructure of the community during the first quarter of this year.
My contribution in conjunction with yours will make a REAL difference. Please be a part of this movement and help me bring light to the community that gave me and my descendants a humble start in life.
Thank you and God bless you!
