During an internship in Honduras, I spent time in Crawfish Rock, a proud Caribbean fishing village on the island of Roatán. It didn’t take long to connect with the heart of the community, especially the kids and teens who gathered every afternoon to play soccer (Futbol)...barefoot, on a dusty field, with a shared, worn-out ball.
Recently, I found out they won’t be able to compete in an upcoming tournament, and it isn't because they lack skill or passion, but because they don’t have the basic gear to qualify.
For the older teens, it’s also their last chance before they age out of the youth division of the tournament. Having the basic gear like cleats, jerseys, new soccer balls, nets, etc. would give them the opportunity to play in the tournament.
That’s why I’m launching this fundraiser to help them take the field equipped and seen.
Every dollar goes straight to this effort. I will also be bringing the supplies directly to Roatán to make sure they arrive in time and will keep you posted with updates as things move forward.
With gratitude,
Thomas
