Support Our Community Babies

Donation protected
This event is being done to combat the isolation that families and particularly new parents faced during the pandemic. They now need a way to mingle and meet other parents as well as socialize their children. This can be difficult for parents to arrange playdates and even have the courage to exchange information to do so, we are making it easier for them!

The idea was born from many past and current clients of mine that wish to meet with each other, and I thought it would be a great idea. I run breastfeeding support groups but not all are nursing or can't make it to that group. I needed a place for them congegrate and be able to empathize with other parents over normal life things of being a parent.

Pop-Up Community Play Date - Hosted by Melanin Milk SD

I'm a mom, bonus mom, doula, childbirth educator, lactation consultant, prenatal/postnatal yoga instructor, and perinatal health and wellness coach. Additionally, I'm finishing my term, this is my last year on the board of education for a local school district. You can learn more about me here .

We are so excited to offer this amazingly innovative way to have fun together and bond with our community, children and parents alike. Hope you can join us for this awesome time in the park, locations will be rotating for this is a pop-up event.

When: First Saturdays : 10am - 12pm

Where: An outdoor park or other public space (location to be announced monthly) First playdate will be at Rohr Park. 4548 Sweetwater Rd, Bonita, CA 91902

Who: For babies and children ages 0 to 5 years of age. Must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All caregivers are welcome. Children over age five may attend, but an adult must accompany them at all times, and we ask that you have an understanding and provide your child with knowledge on how to play alongside younger children appropriately.

What: There will be many toys available to promote play, including bubbles, arts & crafts, obstacle course, beach balls, baby gym, lawn games, etc. This will allow adults to mingle and make parent friends while supporting their children’s play time and socialization. Please bring your snacks, drinks, blankets and chairs.

Why: Our pop-up playdate provides a safe outdoor playtime with developmentally appropriate activities and opportunities for fun and socialization. We hope to give a place to connect, build family resilience, and explore our amazing community of San Diego. We will use the pop-up model by hosting at different outdoor locations throughout San Diego county, specifically focusing on the Southeast and South Bay areas.

We schedule our pop-up locations monthly based on the interest of the community. There is no cost to attend, but spaces are on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will limit capacity to 25 families per event. Due to COVID-19 precautions, spots are limited, so we can adhere to social distancing regulations; masks are optional.

Melanin Milk SD Pop-Up Community Playdate time, date or location is subject to change at any time. It may temporarily suspend groups at our discretion or in response to San Diego County Health and Human Services as well as CDC or statewide recommendation or order.

Your donation big or small will provide funding for the toys, games, seating, tents, etc that is needed. Additionally, there is funding in the requested amount for one year of storage so that I don't have to keep these items at my home (I don't have space). No funds will be spent on people power as this is a volunteer based event.
