Introduction
In Nepal, thousands of voices go unheard every day. From broken roads and unsafe drinking water to systemic neglect and policy gaps, those in power often ignore the issues that directly impact people’s lives. The truth is: access to democracy is still a privilege, not a right, for many.
That’s why we created SpeakUp Nepal. We are Nepal’s first civic tech petition platform, where ordinary citizens can raise their concerns, build collective pressure, and demand accountability from public institutions. From hyperlocal problems to national policies, we’re transforming public frustration into innovative, organized, and trackable civic action.
And now, we need your support to take this movement to the next level, to build a stronger, more inclusive democracy where every voice truly matters.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bridge the gap between citizens and government by empowering people to raise concerns, mobilize collective action, and demand accountability. Through digital tools, impactful storytelling, and structured civic dialogue, we strive to make democracy more accessible, participatory, and responsive to all.
We are redefining how democracy works from the bottom up.
What We’ve Achieved So Far
- Over 300 verified public petitions submitted by citizens from across Nepal
- More than 19,500 petition signatures amplify the people’s voice
- Over 15 million digital impressions spreading awareness and driving accountability
Thanks to this collective power, our petitions have:
- Prompted 17 government agencies to take direct action
- Led to 5 petitions being formally discussed in the federal parliament
- Resulted in tangible improvements like road repairs, water pipeline fixes, policy reversals, and even high-level investigations into murder and corruption cases
We have already changed laws, reopened forgotten cases, and strengthened local governance, and this is only the beginning of a true people-powered democratic movement.
Why We Need Your Help
To grow this people-powered movement, we’re raising $25,000 to invest in three key areas:
1. Build and Scale Our Digital Petition Platform
- Improve multilingual access for rural and local users
- Enhance security, user tracking, and reporting dashboards
- Launch mobile-based petition tools (chatbot/SMS)
Target: $5,000
2. Run National Campaigns on Accountability and Good Governance
- Storytelling content (videos, reels, graphics) for campaigns
- Media outreach and community journalism
- Legislative engagement and response tracking
Target: $4,000
3. Empower Youth and Rural Citizens to Use Their Voice
- Conduct civic engagement workshops for undergrad students
- Train young changemakers in advocacy and digital tools
- Local language toolkits and outreach materials
Target: $3,500
Your Support = People’s Power
This campaign is not just about funding a platform. It’s about equipping the people of Nepal to hold power to account. To make their voices heard. To create a culture where democracy is active, inclusive, and continuous.
