Help My Mom Find Housing While Fighting Cancer

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January 2024. It had metastasized to other regions, but until recently, her chemo treatments have kept it from spreading further. However, she now needs extensive radiation treatments in her brain and needs more help with daily function.

Her living situation is detrimental to her physical and mental health, and it's become clear that finding her another place would not just dramatically increase her quality of life but is also an urgent need given her recent decline in health.

I am her only child and one of few people in her support system. I have traveled back to Massachusetts several times this year, but there is only so much I can do during these relatively brief visits.

The start of this round of radiation treatment coincided with my grandfather's passing, so I had to make quick decisions about travel based on the uncertainty ahead. I bought a one-way ticket and left within two days, taking my cat and as much winter clothing as possible.

I'm currently in Massachusetts indefinitely to take care of her and figure out a workable solution that will provide my mother with the comfort and peace that she deserves in this critical time.

I am seeking support from my community to raise money to find a place for my mom and I to stay in the short- to medium-term, while considering long term options and covering related expenses. This includes our AirBNB during treatments, travel, rent, and/or cleaning and moving fees.
