Build a Grocery Store for Abou!

Donation protected
HELLO SPIRIT PEOPLE.
We live in a globally connected world, which brings both benefits and risks. That is how fate brought Abou, a young man from the Gambia and us, two students from Germany together. Everything in life has its purpose and we know that our paths have crossed for a reason. Just as we are convinced that you are here for a reason.

HOW WE MET EACH OTHER.
For several months now, we have been communicating almost daily. We value our family and our friends a lot. We like to spend time with the people that are important to us, just as we like to talk about the commonalities in our cultures. But often enough there are many unpleasant topics, not just because the obvious diversity outweighs the similarities, but also because it was difficult for us to hide when it comes to hunger and suffering. We have never been able to experience this with a personal touch, as we do now.

WHAT WE HAVE REACHED SO FAR.
Currently it is hard for these people to provide themselves with necessary goods.
The global pandemic has drastically diminished the living conditions in third world countries. As a result, the already difficult days have become even more challenging. But we were able to encourage many people to support us by donating money and since then we have been able to monthly provide food and supplies for Abou and his family. Even in unexpected situations were we able to work a small miracle with the collected funds. For instance, could we come up for his brothers medical care, so that he recovered after only a few weeks.

That is why we both know that life has brought us together for a reason. We help them and in return we learn to be grateful for the things we take for granted. We have access to excellent medical care that is provided for everyone. We have enough food and clean water, we have a roof that covers our heads and people who truly care about us. We have learned to be more than grateful for everything.

WHAT ARE OUR GOALS.
We are young and eager, however with a limited budget. But our spirit is as large as the heart of this west african family. That is why we need a long-term solution for both of us. Living in the Gambia can be quite challenging without a good school education. Therefore, the only way to earn for a living is with badly paid jobs and sometimes risky labour.

For this reason we want to build up a small grocery store for Abou in his village. It will be a chance to provide his community with food, having a permanent job and at the same time being independent and no longer reliant on third parties. We will use the funds to buy a shed, as well as the basic equipment and daily necessities, like foods and sanitary products.

In the long run, we want to achieve more than that together. As prospective architects, we have great upcoming projects for the future planned. One day we will be able to develop even more projects with your help and our expertise to give these people self-reliance and sustainability.
