Hi Leona here, I expect that most or all of you know me personally, but just in case I'll introduce myself and get you up to speed with whats going on. I have a 6 year old son, L, his mother and I have been separated for 2 years now. We have done the regular thing, agreed to a parenting plan, I pay child support, we swap weekends with him. I have done everything I can do to try to make a good environment for L and I have stuck by the rules of our agreement.
But she is trying to have me held in contempt of court and get our parenting agreement modified so that I have only supervised visitation. She is also asking for a guardian ad litem (GAL) to be appointed by the court. That person would, as I understand it, sort of investigate the living situation on both sides. Talk to friends and family come to my house to see what the living situation is like, that sort of thing. They would then make a recommendation to the judge, it would be anybodys guess how that would go for me. I, as you know, am a trans woman living in rural north GA. This is Marjorie Taylor Greens district, to give you an idea of the sort of people who live here. I feel like there is a very real possibility that the GAL would paint an unfavorable picture of me just because of who I am.
I have tried to be a good parent, to take care of myself so that I can show up for my child. I have stuck to the terms of the parenting agreement, I have done what I think is in L's best interest. I honestly don't know why, but it seems like my ex really wants me out of his life. I met with the same lawyer that I used for my divorce, he doesn't anticipate this being easy and is asking for $5000 to take the case and anticipates a final cost between $5000 and $10000 dollars. I got served papers on the 6th of October, my court date is on the 22nd of October. So that's what I'm up against any and all help that you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
With Love, Leona Bailey
