Lend Jim Geldert a Helping Foot
Donation protected
We are the Geldert Family, and we are helping set up a GoFundMe page for our younger brother Jim. On July 8th Jim’s right foot was catastrophically crushed while working as a lineman for a Twin Cities Metro co-op. He is currently recovering from surgery and will be unable to walk for months. He has a long road of hospital visits possibility of more surgery, physical therapy and pain management ahead of him.
Please excuse the slightly silly title of this page—our family has always turned to laughter (or attempted laughter) to get through all our major life events—both the celebrations and the challenges. Jim’s way of making you laugh is often quiet and witty rather than loud and in your face. It can take a few moments before the comment or joke sinks in. He takes great pleasure in making those around him laugh.
It has been both an odd and wonderful experience to see our youngest sibling grow up to have babies of his own. Jim started his own family when he joined the Marines after high school and met his wife, Taylor. They had Finn in 2017 and baby Greer last year. We see how much pride Jim takes in being with and providing for his family. He loves to make Greer giggle and listen to Finn tell stories about ‘Tim’ his fly friend.
With his injury and months of recovery, we know Jim is extremely worried about providing for his family as he is on worker's compensation and is receiving only two-thirds of his salary. Taylor, who works for the local emergency services, has been unable to pick up additional shifts to help due to the care Jim needs at home on a daily basis. The financial burden of reduced pay after just moving across Minnesota for his new lineman position has caused additional stress to the Geldert family.
We are reaching out to Jim’s extended support group —family, friends, coworkers, and community members for help! We want Jim to know his family is taken care of while he puts all his energy into healing.
Any amount will help Jim, Taylor, Finn and Greer. Thank you from the entire Geldert family for your generosity and for extending a helping ‘foot’!
