With a little help from my friends

Hi! My name is Alexis and next to me in the picture is my beautiful daughter, Arianna. She is my entire world.

I don't have a tragic accident or horrible story that brings me here today. The truth is I am just a mom, working as hard as I possibly can to get caught up, but needing some help along the way. The last year has been a struggle with losing a job, separating from my spouse, and then having to take a job that isn't paying enough to cover my bills. People around me helped and it looked a bit brighter until the end of August when I ended up in the ER with kidney stones for the third time in my life. It was a long 2.5 months that I waited to finally have two surgeries in November. I am just now past that and getting back to studying for my real estate test.

I originally asked for help to pay for the childcare and unfortunately, even that will have to wait. I received a demand for rent/eviction notice a few months ago, and with the help of my family and friends I came close, but did not lose my apartment. My car has been a struggle to keep as well. I have shared this on Facebook and Nextdoor. My family and my daughter's father have done all they can do.

I know there are real problems in the world and much more serious situations causing people to need help, and this is why I feel horrible and embarrassed to go this route. I have taken steps that will help me to help myself never be in this situation again and that will absolutely change my future, however it doesn't help with my immediate needs and that is why I have turned here to friends, family and my community. Believe me when I say this isn't easy to do, reaching out and putting it all out there for others to see. I just need to do whatever I can to help my child and myself get through this time and onto the next chapter.

I realize Christmas is around the corner and that everyone has their own bills to pay, their own homes or apartments, their own vehicles and some have their own children and families. I want you to know I am grateful for anything and I will pay it all forward, that I can promise.
