Hello friends and family,
My 2 year old daughter Lejla has been recently diagnosed with FSGS (Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis) disease through genetics. This condition can lead to kidney failure and can only be treated with dialysis or a transplant. It's been about 5 months since this all started with Lejla. We noticed her swelling in the body, so we took the initiative to take her to the ER because we knew something was wrong. Her kidney function was 80% when we found out and she had gotten a biopsy. She's been doing Infusion treatments 3 times a week here at the hospital. After 2 weeks she will be on hemodyalasis at home. She's been following a fluid restriction, sodium, and potassium diet. This part is one of the hardest parts for her because she loves food and she's limited. Her blood pressure and levels were getting under control, but over time her kidney function percentage kept decreasing and lab levels have been elevating. Currently her kidney function is below 10% and is undergoing diyalasis treatment. Getting regular dialysis treatments three times a week for four hours at a time, will help her kidneys do their job and keep her alive, but a transplant would offer her more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life sooner. A transplant would give her more time to do the fun things she enjoy most, like spending time with family and friends. Time is not on our side. We want Lejla back to her happy and loving self. With my fiance Wiliam, he had a transplant and was fortunate enough to recieve a 2 month old cadaver kidney after the 4 months on diyalasis. Asking a family member or a friend to consider donating a kidney to Lejla is difficult, but it greatly improves her chances of getting a transplant. A living kidney donation typically lasts longer and has better function. You might not know a lot about living donation. I know I didn’t before kidney disease affected my family. Understandably, some people are afraid about the surgery and what living with one kidney will mean for them but I rule out to donate due to medical reasons for my baby which breaks my heart. Thats why I'm on here to do what ever it takes to get her a kidney. I know living donation may not be right for everyone, but you can still help! Please consider being an organ donor after death and also, help me by sharing my story with everyone you know. At the very least I want to bring awareness to kidney disease and living donation. I am hopeful my efforts will help Lejla receive a kidney sooner and encourage others to consider helping the many people on the wait list. Thank you very much again for taking the time to read. Thank you to our family who has helped and supported us as a family since the beginning and is continuing to help us through this rough time in our lives. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors and nephrolpgy team that are helping take great care of our little girl. Right now we are not in the best financial situation. Constant transportation from home to the hospital is costly. As well as infusions and appointments. Any contributions would help in many ways for our family. My fiance is working short hours and me as mother of 2(not working) is not easy at all. All contributions will be used for extra medical expenses and hopefully to take lejla somewhere fun where she can enjoy herself. If you can't give but still want to support, please please please share our page with family, friends, co workers etc. With more people aware of our cause, we'll be one step closer to finding that match. I hope someone out there can help our daughter become happy again. I'm sorry if this is too long or I may have missed anything. I am here if anyone has any questions and I'll do my best to answer. PEACE.LOVE.POSITIVITY. ❤️
