Hi, my name is Emily Waldron and I am launching this GoFundMe campaign to support the North Plains Food Bank.

As many of you know, the North Plains Food Bank has been forced to jump through many legal hoops by the City of North Plains. It looked like things were finally coming to completion with the design review application for the Food Bank submitted to the city's Planning Department, including the plan for a loading zone on 314th Street for all the food being loaded and unloaded at the food bank. These plans were approved by the Planning Department. At a December meeting held between North Plains Food Bank representatives and North Plains city staff they continued the discussion of a loading zone on 314th, and later that week the sheriff's department came to do a walk-through of the future loading zone with Lora, the director of the North Plains Food Bank.

In January the North Plains Food Bank received a letter from the city stating that the loading zone location had been changed to be on Commercial Street without consulting the food bank or any further discussions. The North Plains Food Bank appealed the decision because the new loading zone location is unsafe and would affect their ability to guarantee the safety of clients and volunteers as well as impacting their ability to insure the building. The appeal was denied, and now the North Plains Food Bank has had to hire an attorney to preserve their entitlement to the original loading zone location.

I am asking for donations to help cover the costs of the attorney. The Food Bank does not have enough money to cover all the fees up front, and any money currently being donated has been used to feed friends and neighbors in our community.

Any extra funds donated beyond the legal costs will be used to support the North Plains Food Bank. Thank you for your generous support.
