A Mother’s Hell
Maria left an emotionally abusive marriage in 2012 and has been living with distress in and out of courts ever since. A woman who gave up her career to stay home and raise her two boys and stepson, for 8 years, while her husband worked on moving forward in the ranks as a police officer. Since then she started a new career to be able to provide for her two children and has been taken to court over and over to defend her character and prove that she is a loving mother and has been depleted of all her funds. She believes the last two years her eldest son has been turned against not only her but her whole side of the family. A family he was very close to.
In 2017 her son was brought to the local police station in the night by the father and left there because her son told him he wanted to live with her. She received the phone call, not from her ex husband, but from the police to pick him up. She was not aware this would happen. For the next year she begged the father to be a part of their son’s life but instead communication went unanswered. She then had to support her son on her own with no extra financial assistance from him. The relationship between mother and son soon became toxic and she could not understand why. She later found out that a week after he dropped him off at the police station, the father and son would meet secretly for a year while she was begging him to be a part of their son’s life. Only then did she realize why her son’s behaviour towards her had changed. Communication with her oldest has seized since June 2018 and the pain she and her family feels is unbearable. She believes her son has been alienated and turned against those who love him dearly. Once a child full of life has become a child full of animosity. Her youngest has not taken the bait and now she once again needs to fight to prove that she is a loving mother and to defend her character in order to protect him. Her upcoming trial on April 24, 2020, is her ex husband trying to remove her parental authority towards her oldest son who is now 16.
In Canada it is very hard to prove parental alienation as the country is not educated enough in this matter. Her oldest son, as any 16-year-old, does not have the cognitive and emotional maturity to choose to eliminate a parent from his life. She has reached out for help from youth protection to assist her family, but they chose to close the file since he is 16 and wants to live solely with his father. In one year, there was no success for reunification. While under youth protection the ex husband could not take her to court, but the file was closed in October 2019 and now two months later her ex husband, once again, with false accusations towards her character, is continuing his fight. This is a serious matter that goes unnoticed in courts.
With a heavy heart and her son now being 16, she has no choice to comply to his demands to remove her parental authority as she does not have the financial means to protect and fight for him. She must however protect her 14-year-old from experiencing this type of situation as he continuously voices she is a wonderful mother and wants to remain living in both homes.
She is a loving mother and her priority in life is and always will be her children. She strongly believes that her eldest is stuck in a severe loyalty conflict and she is concerned that this will impact his identity and will affect his relationship with his youngest brother as well as future relationships when he is an adult. The victims here are her beloved children.
She prays that laws in Canada will be passed so that no parent will go through what she is going through. Children need both parents in their lives and should not be placed in a position to choose one parent over another.
Please assist Maria so she can hire a family lawyer to fight the hardest of battles in family court to keep her children in her life and to put an end to this treacherous court battle that has lasted way too many years.
