Dear Concerned Citizens,
On April 28, 2022, after an 8 hour Zoning Board Meeting five commercial solar projects were denied their special use permits. The developer has appealed the decision of all five projects. Again on January 25, 2024, after about 12 hours of testimony spread out over three month the Zoning Board denied plans for a commercial solar project of over 157 acres at the former Winsor Farm.
Now the developer wants a 1-year extension to their Master Plan Approval from 2022 from the Planning Board.
Please come to the Planning Board Meeting on April 2nd at 600pm at the Johnston Senior Center (1291 Hartford Avenue, Johnston) to keep the pressure on the town to keep solar manufacturing out of residential spaces.
The fight is not over.
Several families joined together and hired legal counsel to represent them in stopping these projects and future projects on residential land in our Town. We appreciate your financial support that helps cover hourly lawyer fees and expert witness testimony.
By donating today you will not be personally represented by legal counsel however, your donation will be used towards keeping commercial solar off residentially zoned land in our Town of Johnston.
