Legal Help Needed to Keep 8 Kids Safe & Stable

Our dear friends, Brent and Monica, are facing an incredibly difficult financial trial in an effort to provide a safe and stable environment for their children. Please consider donating to help them take this first step toward protecting their children’s future.

“Hello, my name is Brent, and I’m writing on behalf of my wife, Monica, and our family. Together we are raising eight wonderful children. Seven of them are not my biological children, but each one was born in my heart, and I love them as my own. From the start, my role has been to provide them with the stability, love, and care they deserve, and it is my greatest honor to be their father.

We are now facing a very difficult legal battle. Monica’s ex-husband has filed a custody lawsuit. He has not had an active role in the children’s lives for some time, and this sudden action has created an enormous strain on our family. In addition, he has fallen tens of thousands of dollars behind in child support, which has left us without the resources to fight this lawsuit on our own.

Our fundraising goal is $9,000 to cover the initial costs of beginning this legal process. This amount is broken down into:

• $5,000 retainer for a North Carolina attorney to represent Monica in the custody case.

• $4,000 for a Texas attorney to provide collaborative legal support due to previous representation while our family lived in Texas.

This is only the beginning. We know this will likely become a long and expensive battle, but we cannot even start without these retainers in place. With your help, we can take the first steps toward securing the children’s future. The funds raised will go directly toward legal representation and custody proceedings. Any additional contributions will help our family see this through to the end, giving the children the stability they deserve.

The emotional toll of this process has been heavy. Raising eight children is already a full-time calling, and Monica gives everything she has to them every single day. She is their safe place, their greatest advocate, and the most selfless mother I have ever known. Watching her carry this additional burden has been heartbreaking. For me, the hardest part is seeing the woman I love drained by legal battles when her heart longs to simply be present with our children.

We never wanted to create a fundraiser. We hoped to manage this on our own. But the reality is that we cannot take this first step without help. Asking for support is humbling, but it’s necessary to protect the children and give them the life they deserve — one filled with love, safety, and stability.
