My name is Alex, and I am a father of two who has always believed in standing up for those who cannot protect themselves—especially children, women, and animals. Recently, I found myself in a situation that tested those values. I became deeply concerned for the safety of a dog in my community after hearing from neighbors and advocacy groups that the animal was being abused and restrained daily. Organizations like the Kris Kelly Foundation, Compton Paw Patrol, and South Gate ICE Watch had all highlighted the issue, and many in the neighborhood shared my concerns.
Along with a few women from the community, I went to the residence to check on the dog and tried to get the attention of someone inside. When the door unexpectedly opened, the man inside refused to release the dog. Despite our intentions to help, the police were called, and I was taken into custody. I am now facing an attempted burglary charge, even though my only goal was to help an animal in need. The alleged abuser was not taken into custody, and I am left to navigate the legal system on my own.
The costs of bail and legal representation are overwhelming. I am reaching out for help to cover these expenses so I can properly defend myself and continue to stand up for what I believe is right. Any support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story—would mean the world to me and my family. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you can offer.
