Legal fees to give equal time with his parents

My name is Tim and I’m the dad of a wonderful little boy. I’ve spent the last five years doing everything I can to be a bigger part of his life though I was met with significant and uncalled for opposition in that process. Last year I gave up my career, moved 2,000 miles and bought a house just a few miles from his other home. I secured an attorney that I had used previously to secure basic rights of parenthood(originally was only given visitation in her home by the other party due to lack of court order) that I was being denied, however my attorney I again secured for the second court appeal to seek equal parentage didn’t know enough about the laws in place to get my son the time he needs in both of his homes. I’m now seeking out a new attorney with new fees that are expected to reach around the $10,000 mark. To begin the work the attorney I’ve sought out has graciously asked for a minor retainer of $2,000. I’m not the kind of person to ask for help, but the last year has shown me how hard it can be to re-establish ones life after a major change.

Psychiatrists, doctors, and statistics all agree that equal parenting gives children the best opportunity to thrive in life. I’m not a perfect person, but I do want to give my son the best opportunity to excel in life I can by fighting for his best interest. Right now I’m financially at the limit of what I can keep fighting for.

Any proceeds not used for legal fees will be donated to ALFRA(Alabama family rights association).
