LEGAL FEES FOR MY KIDS AND COERCIVE CONTROL VICTIMS

Hello and thank you for being here.My name is Dionne,Dee to my friends.I’m extremely blessed to be Mum to 4 amazing kids and they’re the reason I’m here.Asking for help,especially financial is extremely hard for me.

For the past 11years I’ve been raising my kids as a single Mum.The last 9 of those I’ve received no support from my family;emotional or financial.In January 2024 I became aware of a substantial amount in unpaid Child support payments.This was the result of their Father insisting on a private payment arrangement based on what he thought was fair.

Throughout my marriage and beyond my divorce I was subjected to coercive control.Emotional and mental denigration,financial control,threats and intimidation.This treatment as well as financial instability has had a profound affect on my mental health.Its taken away my ability to share experiences and holidays with my kids which makes me feel lesser than as a Mum.

I now rely on daily medication for a major depressive disorder and social anxiety.Severe panic attacks have seen me hospitalised on more than one occasion.Im currently unable to work and have a mental health based medical exemption.

Despite multiple attempts by my Lawyer to settle the debt we are headed to Family Court on the 29th July.

To date I owe $10,000 in legal fees to be paid prior to court and have been told that I will need at least $40,000 to get to mediation.

This financial burden is now impacting my ability to meet daily expenses and household bills.

There are so many women subjected to coercive and financial control.My hope with my legal case is to give my kids what they deserve but also to shine a light on this epidemic of silent coercion and manipulation of women.
