My worst fear became a reality this morning. I received a phone call from a local lawyers office, informing me that they would be representing my son’s father in court for custody. I do not intend to speak negatively, however, I will say that it has just been me and my son since before he was born. Custody was not even an argument until child support was filed. I am all my child knows. I work full time to provide for first my son & myself. I am paying student loans, rent, utilities, food, diapers, wipes, oats, formula, bottles, ALL the things that are needs, alone. I met with a lawyer who informed me a retainer fee is provided up front before agreeing to represent me. So, I must act fast. A ball park range of just going to court with their assistance is 5,000. This lawyer works out of a trust fund which means when the money gets low, more is requested. If court is drug out by the opposing party, more is requested. I’m doing all that I can & all that I know. My son is my world and he deserves safety, structure, routine, & to continue to be with the only person he knows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
