I am launching this urgent fundraiser to secure legal representation for a close friend and domestic violence survivor who desperately needs our help. Three years ago, she moved to the United States to build a future. Instead, she spent the last couple years enduring severe domestic abuse from her husband. With no family in the country to turn to, she has carried an immense emotional and financial burden entirely on her own.

While local women's resource organizations have provided critical support to help her find safety, she now faces her final, life-changing divorce trial at the end of this October.

Because of the incredibly tight timeline, we were unable to secure a pro bono attorney. However, a compassionate private attorney has stepped up to represent her and has generously reduced their standard retainer fee. She finally has a chance at a fair trial, but she cannot afford the cost of this representation alone. Winning this case means she can officially break free, secure her safety, and finally move on with her life.
