UPDATE: We have found legal presentation and Eevees has agreed to pay the balance of the fee for representing one rider who was ticketed while delivering food. His next court date is May 24th and we are preparing for that. Stay tuned!
Two members of the local electric unicycle have been issued hefty tickets for riding in Vancouver in the past few months. The main charge ($598) is driving a motor vehicle without insurance. One of the riders has already been to court and been given a second date to produce evidence. The judge explicitly stated that he would make a ruling that would shape legal issues related to electric unicycles going forward. This is too significant for us to leave to individual riders to fight alone. The money being raised will go to legal representation.
We are not the only community of eriders to face legal issues and hope to benefit from what we've learned in other jurisdictions. We might need to hustle hard to get up to speed on this so stay tuned.
