Legal Costs for Immigrant Rights Activists

Donation protected
In June 2021, our community came together to stop a deportation from the Bergen County Jail in so-called New Jersey, unceded territory of the Munsee Lenape. Fourteen activists were arrested at this nonviolent direct action --after successfully delaying the mid-pandemic deportation-- and are now facing heavy legal fees. We are fundraising to pay these costs, so we can get back out there and keep agitating for immigrant rights.

The caging and deporting of immigrants remains an urgent human rights issue, even if it gets less public attention under the Biden administration. Now more than ever, it is essential that we fight back against the violent persecution of undocumented people— whether they come from Haiti, Central America, Ukraine, or anywhere else.

By hitting freedom fighters with heavy fines, the state seeks to discourage organized resistance. It’s critical that these fines don’t slow us down like the cruel deportation machine wants them to. In the spirit of building a sustainable movement, we are asking our community to help us pay these costs. We are deeply grateful for any support you can give, whether by donating, sharing, or both!

Any excess funds will go to Cosecha New Jersey and NYC ICE Watch .
