Legal Assistance to stop Ovation

We would love your assistance in raising attorney fees to help us protest the City of Colorado Springs Planning Commissions approval of the Ovation Neighborhood and continuation of Chapel Ridge Drive. Our protest, set to be filed in the week of December 17th, 2023 and the hearing will most likely be heard in January or February of 2024.

As a community, we've stood together impressively at every stage, making our presence felt and our opinions heard. Now, as we prepare for the City Council protest stage, the need for professional legal assistance has become vital. We have had preliminary discussions with Harmon and he is looking for $1,000 up front to watch the planning commission hearing and review our situation to make sure we have a case. After this we will try to negotiate how he can help us with the amount of money we raise here. Based on our discussions with other neighbors, between $10,000 - $15,000 should be enough to get us strong representation.

Our meeting with the planning commission was very promising. We had 3 members strongly on our side. Unfortunately, after 2 hours of debate a fourth member changed his mind allowing the development to pass. The issues that we have a strong case around (based on the Planning Commission debate) are:

1. Emergency access to the neighborhood.

2. Changes to the developers' master plan, impacting residents who bought properties based on the original plan.

3. Increased traffic and its effects on our community.
