Leeds RAG Fashion Show
The LRFS Committee are currently challenging themselves to run, walk or crawl 1000km during lockdown with the aim of raising £1000 for our chosen charities! Our committee have been working hard throughout the year to organise the iconic Leeds RAG fashion show, but since our efforts have been slowed by a national lockdown, what a better way to continue our fundraising than to swap our laptops for some running shoes. Please consider sponsoring our members for their efforts on the LRFS project and our running debuts!
This year LRFS2021 has chosen to support two amazing charities, Labour Behind the Label and Carers Leeds.
Labour Behind the Label supports garment workers' efforts worldwide in improving working conditions, wages, and ensuring basic rights are respected. It does this through solidarity with workers, trade unions and NGOs in producer countries; lobbying of retailers and brands; promoting direct action; and the research of legal possibilities for improving conditions. Although small, they make a big impact. Labour Behind the Label believes that no-one should live in poverty for the price of a cheap t-shirt. That a living wage is a basic human right, as is working without fear for your life. They are committed to making these ideals a reality in the garment industry.
Carers Leeds is an independent charity that gives support, advice and information to unpaid carers aged over 16. Established in 1996, their team of expert support workers are dedicated to improving the lives of the 74,000 carers in Leeds. They deliver confidential one to one and group support that helps carers keep on caring. They are based in the centre of Leeds, and also offer support in local communities, over the phone and online. Carers Leeds works in partnership with community groups, local businesses and third sector organisations to give carers in Leeds a network of support that covers general and specialist carers issues.
Both charities deserve our support particularly this year so please give all you can!
