Lee Ling's volunteer trip to Laos

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this message

My name is Lee Ling Unitt and I will be volunteering in Laos this summer with Growth International Volunteer Excursions (GIVE). My end goal is to raise $3000 by the end of March. Currently, I am double majoring at Umass Amherst studying Legal Studies and Cultural Anthropology while pursuing a minor in Spanish. My dream in life is to be able to help people in different parts of the world while gaining my own knowledge and experience to become a more grounded person. This volunteer experience will be one of the first many big steps I need to take to pursue my dream in life.

What is GIVE?

GIVE focuses on sustainable community development in marginalized communities by assisting, educating, and empowering the local population. The core goal is to provide communities with the necessary infrastructure to foster sustainable growth. The program continues to remain involved in these communities after volunteers like me have left Laos. They work within these communities year-round to provide opportunities for sustainable development by funding teachers to work in secondary school and funding doctors to provide medical care in these communities.

What will your donation help me do?

Volunteering at the Luang Prabang Wildlife Sanctuary building new enclosures for animals rescued by illegal trade

Partnering with the remote village of Sop Chem on sustainable agriculture

Teaching English to local women and children

Meditating with monks in a Buddhist monastery

Exploring summit limestone peaks in Laos’ rugged mountainous landscape.
