We’re Adopting!!!

Nick and I have dreamed about adopting since before we were married. We always thought we would have a few biological children first and then adopt but this summer God made it crystal clear that His timing was NOW! We said yes to that nudge and it has been amazing to see door after door opened so quickly to make this happen! We have been waiting over two years for the next baby we would get to raise and we can’t believe we are finally getting to see a clearer picture of what God has in store! We are overwhelmed with joy and anticipation to meet baby Leamon and God is already teaching us so much about what it means to be adopted into His family and we cannot wait to apply His heart for adoption within our own home.

Throughout this process we invite you to pray along side us and we believe prayer is the greatest gift we could recieve in this time! Please pray for our hearts as we wait and prepare to welcome a child, for the birth mother’s heart as she walks through this difficult time, for our future baby’s health and future, and lastly for wisdom as we prayerfully consider each case to find the match God has in store!

You are also welcome to join us on this journey financially as adoption is rather expensive. Many don’t know but adoption can cost anywhere between $40,000-$60,000. (Crazy right!?) Although this is a big number, we trust and know that we serve an even bigger God! And while we do not expect to fundraise the entirety of our expenses, we have set our goal at the agency’s rate of $43,000. God has taught us so much in even getting to this point and we hope that by inviting you into this process you will see yourself as a part of the community we hope to build around our child as he/she grows up!

Are you adopting domestically or internationally?

We are adopting domestically! International adoption in this covid season is really challenging.

What organization are you working with?

We are working with Legacy Adoptive Services, a Christian adoption agency in Fort Worth TX. After researching a long list of agencies, we felt that Legacy was the best fit for us for many reasons. You can learn more about them at https://legacyas.com/

Where are you in the process?

We have completed our application paperwork and home study and just got the news that we are an active waiting family! That means that whenever an expecting mother comes in to make an adoption plan, if she is a good fit for what we’re looking for then we’ll get the opportunity to learn about her and see if she’s a good fit for us. It’s a mutual decision and if we are both interested we’ll have a “match!” From there we’ll plan toward her due date! :)

What is your timeline?

Adoption timelines are never certain. Legacy has an average wait time of 6-9 months and 90% of their families match within a year. So 2022 is hopefully our year :)

Will you have a boy or girl?

We are open to either gender and any race, so we will just see who God brings us!

Why is adoption so expensive?

Adoption fees include legal fees, medical expenses for the birth mother, agency fees, and a variety of resources for the birth mother. One of the reasons we also chose Legacy was the wonderful life long counseling offered to the birth mother. She will forever be a part of our child’s life and so we want the very best for her.
