Who are we?
LeadPeace is a youth-led organization dedicated to our mission: to cultivate youth leaders and peacebuilders by providing them with the necessary skills to set up their own initiatives.
Founded in July 2019 by Xuan Huynh, LeadPeace started off as the Open Peacebuilding and Leadership Conference (also known as the OPL Conference for short). Held in December of 2019, over 50 students from Northern Virginia high schools came together to use leadership skills such as public speaking and collaboration to navigate cultural divides and other topics related to peacebuilding. They also gained insight from three inspirational speakers who shared their experiences as community leaders and peacebuilders. Going into 2020, we rebranded to LeadPeace and we were planning on holding the second iteration of the in-person conference. But, due to COVID-19, we have since moved our services to the virtual environment. All costs were covered including admission, lunch, and t-shirts.

What are our online services?
LEADTALKS:
LeadTalks seeks to provide the youth with relatable role models by showcasing narratives of leaders, especially those who identify as a women, people of color, or other minorities. We host monthly Lead Talks with honorable speakers and workshops with speakers and exercises that foster empowerment and reflection. The goal is to have newly born leaders and peacebuilders drive progressive change into their fields of interest.
ARTPEACE:
ArtPEACE seeks to address social inequities and promote unity through youth art and dialogue. Curated around community development topics, we host monthly art challenges and subsequent dialogues where art submissions are showcased and utilized as catalysts of discussion. The goal is to have students exercise self expression and strengthen their ability to navigate conversations on challenging topics.
Content:
The Content Team works to fulfill our mission through social media posts that contain fruitful information, advice, and tips on a wide array of topics: self-development, peace-building, and awareness issues. The content team supplements LeadPeace’s online blog and infographics via social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook). The goal is to spread LeadPeace’s message through accessible online platforms, especially during a time when everyone has had to adapt to the virtual landscape.

Ultimately, we envision LeadPeace participants to become:
1. Comfortable expressing themselves through various forms (speech, art)
2. Able to hold conversations on challenging topics
3. Involved in community development projects
How will funds be distributed?
Website domain and subscription: $170.00
Zoom subscription: $180.00
Ad services: $100.00
Any additional funds will be put towards developing LeadPeace as we are planning on hosting a conference in 2021.
As a student-led organization, we rely on the generosity of sponsors. We expect our initiatives to reach over 200 students but that can only be made possible with the right tools. If you are willing to support LeadPeace by making a donation (even $1 helps) and/or sharing us with your network of friends and family, we would greatly appreciate it!
