LSLO Legacy Project - Meal Kits

Otis needs your help...
He too struggles to live a less wasteful life. All he needs is a little motivation and help from his class twenty-great friends.

It's shocking how wasteful we are.
The US represents five percent of the world’s population, yet consumes about a quarter of the planet’s resources. Much of this waste comes from single-use items – like 40 billion plastic utensils a year.

This year, Class 28 is committed to changing our wasteful culture by taking accountability for our own consumption habits. Our goal is to produce reusable meal kits for future Leadership SLO class members to use at day sessions, meetings, gatherings and for personal everyday use for one main reason: to make reusable as easy as discardable.

Just one meal kit for every future Leadership SLO class member will offset thousands of plastic utensils, plates, and coffee cups (and we drink A LOT of coffee) over the course of a programmatic year.

We need your financial support to make this project happen.
Please consider funding at least one meal kit, valued at $30.  Any amount - whatever you can give - will help reach our shared goal.  It would be amazing to get 100% participation from our class to show our commitment to the community!

You can also give via Venmo @LSLO-class28.

Class 28's plan will leave a lasting legacy for years to come.
-- All meal kits contain a stainless-steel plate, cup, eating utensils, and embroidered napkin packaged in a reusable (washable) bag.
-- Class members should bring these kits to all-day sessions, meetings, and gatherings that are associated with Leadership SLO, as well as out in the community for everyday use.
-- At the end of the year, members will pass along their kit to the next class, and so on.
-- A minimum amount of replacement parts will be available through the Chamber of Commerce should someone lose a part. Class members will be encouraged to maintain their kit in good condition so that they can be used for many years/classes to come.
-- An outreach and educational campaign to “bring your own” (BYO) will launch in January; local restaurants will be encouraged to offer discounts to anyone who brings their own reusable containers (not just Leadership SLO members with meal kits) for to-go orders or leftovers.

Let's do this! So much love and appreciation for Class 20-GREAT.
