Stop the Proposal for Development of the old Finkles sites!

Donation protected
We're raising funds to announce and commence our opposition to the redevelopment of Coryell Street.

The proposed 48-room hotel and 150-person wedding venue on the site of the Finkels building and surroundings is too large for Lambertville. It will radically reduce mobility within the central business district, will exacerbate existing traffic blockages, will make parking a nightmare, will be too loud, and will have negative implications for the environment along the D&R canal.

The Battle for the Heart and Soul of Lambertville

Our community that we know and love is under threat — and we need your help.

Large corporations and real estate speculators are trying to reshape Lambertville in ways that endanger its unique character and tight-knit sense of community. If this massive luxury hotel project goes through, it won’t stop there — it will forever change the make-up of our town. All of this in a residential neighborhood with narrow streets, limited access, and fragile infrastructure.

What’s Being Proposed - Big Hotel Big Mistake!
• A luxury hotel with 49 rooms, 7 room spa, coffee shop/restaurants and bars
• A full-lot expansion, including 2 story 93 space parking deck on the Finkle’s warehouse site
• Conversion of Strand Theatre into a 175-person wedding mill with new construction in the alley
• Demolition / drastic alteration of historic buildings with 1-2 stories added to all structures

Why We Oppose This Project
• It will overwhelm the neighborhood with traffic, noise, air and water pollution
• Overdevelopment - The project will outsize and overshadow surrounding homes and businesses
• Violates the intent and spirit of our Historic District, threatens views and the historic integrity of the D&R Canal
• It jeopardizes local, family-owned businesses by handing the town over to corporate hospitality giants

Parking and Traffic Problems
By the developers ‘own numbers, the plan fails to meet basic parking needs and will cause gridlock.
• They need a total of 306 parking spaces: 49 hotel rooms (49 spaces) + wedding mill (85 spaces) + restaurant / bar (82 spaces) + staff (90 spaces)

Traffic Nightmare on Coryell Street.
Narrow street and parking on both sides make Coryell basically a one-way street. The proposed private parking deck (with no public access) is on Lambert Lane, a narrow street with limited visibility. The wedding venue will add 75 cars in the hour before the events, plus about 50 cars an hour at other times. Truck, traffic, and deliveries will block the street. Garbage pickup will cause further disruptions and noise.

We Can Stop This — But We Must Act Now!
The people of Lambertville must come together to stop this reckless plan. We’re organizing and advocating at every level:
• City Council
• Planning Board
• Historic Preservation Commission
• Delaware River Basin Commission
• NJ Water Supply Authority

We will not let outside big developers and corporations decide the future of our city. This is our home! We fight to protect our City's Charm and Historic Character!
