Laurie’s story- raising money for a disabled access vehicle

Hi, my name is Phoebe Laurie’s daughter and myself and my family would appreciate if you are able to share your generosity to help us raise money for a disabled vehicle to bring more joy to my mums life.

This is Laurie’s story :

In 2008 my mum fell ill during her pregnancy with me and it was later found out that she had a hemangioblastoma tumour. I was her first miracle. The doctors believed that continuing her pregnancy with myself ,she would be risking not only her life , but my life too. With a lot of hope and prayers she made a successful and fast recovery. Me and my brother had the most wonderful mum in the world and shared the most amazing 9years of our life together. However, unfortunately, little did we know this life destroying tumour came back. This time the tumour was in a different part of the brain and it was a second benign tumour. She had emergency surgery only for a complication to cause bleeding to the brain and she has been left paralysed from the neck down and almost unable to speak.After her operation we all hoped and prayed for another speedy recovery, however , we soon found that Laurie stopped making significant improvements. As a family this was devastating as our mums life was never going to be the same again. My mum is currently is paralysed on her left side and on her right side of the body has ataxia , which essentially means she is paralysed. My mums current car is old and is not suitable or comfortable for my mum to be in and limits the joy she has as she is already in a difficult situation to get around places and her car is constantly being fixed. We would like to make journeys more accessible and comfortable for her. Also to help bring her over all confidence back to do more activities and day trips.Anyone who knew Laurie would know she was always the life of the party and with these donations we are hoping we can bring some of that happiness back into her life once again. These past 7 years have not been easy for her and as her family we want to make her life as enjoyable as possible.
