June 2023 marks the beginning of the next phase of Lauren's Breast Cancer Journey - Clinical Trial! Over the past 2.5 years, Lauren has undergone numerous types of treatments at the University of Michigan (including 3 different chemotherapies), all of which were unsuccessful. Lauren and family, with the support of her UM Care Team, sought a second opinion. They chose premiere cancer treatment center MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. God provided ONE opening in the latest clinical trial that has shown great promise in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. After getting the final necessary approvals for clinical trial entry from both MD Anderson AND their insurance, Lauren will begin treatment in Houston at the end of June. Lauren, Nolan and their dog Curry will travel and live in Houston for 7-9 weeks this summer. There will also be further necessary travel from Michigan (approximately every 3 weeks) required after that. As you can imagine there is great hope mixed with natural overwhelming feelings that come with making such a big move and receiving a new treatment. They have found an apartment close to the cancer center that they will stay for the duration of Lauren's treatment. The Mitchell/Wolffis family has felt so supported through the love, generosity and prayers of their community (YOU). We hope to bless them further by alleviating many of the financial burdens associated with travel, housing and cancer treatment. Many thanks to the many of you that have already given generously, made meals and most importantly prayed for them. They are so appreciative of all of the love and support they have received. If you feel called to help in this phase of their journey, they are so appreciative but please feel no obligation. They know that they are continually being lifted up in prayer. With gratititude, Jennifer Barber for the Mitchell/Wolffis family.
