Lauren's children
Donation protected
I am the father of Lauren E. Richard (nee O'Reilly). Lauren died in late June 2020 at the age of 28. She was married and had four children, ages from 4 yrs to 10 yrs. She had no life insurance and no death benefits available from Social Security, etc. There are no other known benefits available to the children now or in their long term future.
Lauren was one of three siblings adopted from Russia in 1996, when she was 4 yrs. old. She is survived by an older sister who has struggled throughout her adult life and a brother who is profoundly Deaf with emotional and cognitive disabilities.
There is no indication of any death benefits available via her surviving husband's Social Security.
Lauren and her family were very poor and she was close to finishing her nursing degree in December of 2020. She and her husband lived in a rental home and struggled to make ends meet.
Her children will struggle emotionally with the loss of their Mom for the rest of their lives.
The children and their father face years of economic challenges as well. He works in lawn care during the summer and does limited work (salting of parking lots when needed) during the winter. He has no benefits or insurance available to him via this part-time self-employment.
Any funds raised will provide this family with an opportunity to move to a larger rental home, have funds for clothing, healthy activities for the kids, enhance their educational and spiritual opportunities as well as supplement whatever medical and dental expenses not covered by the public assistance health care plan they are in currently.
As grandparents, we have been very involved in their lives long before this tragic death and will continue our involvement as long as we can for the rest of our own lives.
Anything you can share will go directly to the care and needs of these precious gifts from God, and my wife and I will maintain total control of any funds raised. The funds will go into a separate bank account set up and controlled by my wife and I.
They will need these funds in the very near future.
The support will mean everything to the children and to all of us who are surviving Lauren.
The team working with me will be happy to provide updates to donors as to how the funds are being used.
