Lauren and Robyn have been on their adoption journey for about 19 months. They went through an expensive facilitator who markets to same-sex couples, since so many in the south won’t work with them. To this point, they have had three failed adoptions with their facilitator with little to no help from them. They hired two lawyers and social workers for each failed attempt, significantly chipping away at their savings.
Eventually, they met an amazing advocate who gave them tips on how to market themselves.
They recently have met their dream birth mother, and she’s due any day now. They recently learned of several more expenses that they hadn’t anticipated (medical costs, an additional lawyer, etc.)
They now have a good estimate of total costs and with the additional lawyers, social worker, and specific physician expenses and hospital bills, they know they need help.
This is all Robyn and Lauren have wanted and have managed to spend upwards of $40,000 already, not including upcoming costs. Their families have been more than generous, and hope that any little bit anyone can give to get them through this final push.
