My mum is only 50. We’re raising money for cancer treatment that could give her more time with the people who love her.
As her daughter, I never imagined I would be writing this.
In 2022, Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. After surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and ongoing treatment, we hoped we could begin to put the fear behind us and get back to family life.
Then, in 2025, we received the news we had dreaded: the cancer had spread. Mum now has incurable secondary breast cancer. Treatment can help control it, but it cannot cure her.
Since then, she has been through one treatment after another\. Each has brought hope, but sadly, none has kept her cancer under control for long.
There is a treatment called Enhertu that could offer Mum another chance at more time. However, we have been told she does not qualify for NHS funding in England because she has already received three chemotherapy treatments for her secondary cancer, exceeding the current two-treatment limit.
It is heartbreaking to know that a treatment could potentially help her, but that she cannot currently access it through the NHS.
We have been quoted £4,358 per infusion, given every three weeks. That is a cost our family cannot sustain alone.
We are continuing to pursue NHS funding and other access routes with her medical team. Alongside that, we are fundraising to help pay for private treatment if it is clinically suitable and we cannot secure funding. Enhertu is not a cure, and there are no guarantees, but we want Mum to have every possible chance.
Mum is a wife, a mum to five children and, this year, became a granny for the very first time to my beautiful daughter.
Watching her become a granny has meant so much to us. I want her to be here for first steps, birthdays and all the ordinary days that suddenly feel so precious. I want my daughter to grow up knowing her granny, and my siblings to have their mum beside them for as long as possible.
Anyone who knows Mum knows that her family is her world. Even through treatment, exhaustion, pain and uncertainty, she still worries about everyone else.
Our priority is to help fund treatment that could give Mum more time. We also want to help her enjoy that time: weekends in the caravan, days out with her children and granddaughter, and moments together that we will always treasure.
If NHS funding or another access route becomes available, we will update this page so everyone knows what that means for the money raised and how it will be used.
It is difficult to ask for help, but we cannot do this alone. Any donation, whatever the amount, will help towards Mum’s treatment and time together as a family. If you cannot donate, please share her story, it could reach someone who can help.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, organised fundraisers or supported Mum. Your kindness means more than we can say.
More than anything, we just want more time with our mum.
With love,
Faith xxx
